Ularitide is the pharmaceutical version of urodilatin
Urodilatin is a 32 amino acid hormone of the natriuretic peptide family, secreted from the distale tubulus of the kidney
Upon binding to the natriuretic peptide receptor A and stimulation of
the particulate guanylate cyclase, ularitide regulates vascular
perfusion, neurohormonal activation and renal function.
Urodilatin is the kidneys response to decompensating heart failure by accommodating and preserving its renal function
In acute heart failure, the administration of ularitide is believed to
assure systemic organ perfusion and hence to reduce the short-and long
term clinical complications.
